Offshore Western Newfoundland represents one of the few highly accessible frontier exploration areas left in North America. (Fig. 1) With well established port, airport and highway infrastructure and a favourable regulatory regime, it offers significant potential for superior returns from large structural targets in relatively shallow water (up tp 40 metres). The offshore area is predominantly ice-free with targets within 30 km of shore. A recent increase in exploration activity in the region (ongoing) may present an immediate opportunity to reduce/share rig mobilization and other specialized equipment costs.
